The acclmed soundtrack of the hit action-adventure video game Black Myth: Wukong is set to embark on a thrilling live symphony tour across China, starting with Shenzhen on September 8. This concert series has been co-produced by Game Science, the developer of the popular game and entertnment giant Poly Culture Group.
According to an official post on the WeChat account for Poly Entertnment, a subsidiary of Poly Culture Group, the tour will also feature performances in Shangh September 22, Beijing October 5, Hangzhou October 13, and Chongqing October 27. The concerts will span two sessions per day: an afternoon show at 3pm and an evening one at 8pm.
Tickets priced from 180 yuan to 800 yuan are now avlable for booking through Poly Ticketing and Maoyan ticket platforms.
The Black Myth: Wukong soundtrack has captured widespread admiration for its groundbreaking fusion of Chinese musical elements with modern soundscapes. Highlights include an orchestral take on the beloved theme song from the classic TV series Journey to West, a rap interpretation of Buddhists' Rebirth to Pureland Incantation and a folk-inspired Shaanxi performance by a headless monk narrating the game's narrative.
Since its release last week, Black Myth: Wukong has been making waves globally with over 10 million units sold across all platforms as of Friday evening. The game also saw its online peak number surpassing three million people simultaneously on various platforms.
This live symphony concert tour is another testament to the growing popularity and cultural impact of Chinese video games both domestically and abroad, showcasing the innovative approach of Black Myth: Wukong in fusing traditional Chinese music with modern gaming elements.
