WARNING: HOW TO STAY SAFE FROM TICKET SCAMS
You've found an upcoming event and excited about purchasing tickets online Great news!. You perform a search for tickets, and an advertisement pops up offering tickets to the event. You click on the ad, fill out your information, pick seats and are startled by the high prices compared to what you expected. You decide to proceed with caution as you believe it's more than you wanted to sp but can't resist atting this memorable event.
Unfortunately, this scenario often leads you strght into a scam where a scammer uses tickets as bt to steal your personal information along with any financial detls associated with the transaction. This happens predominantly during popular events like concerts, plays, and sports games when demand exceeds supply causing prices to skyrocket on secondary markets.
Scammers including individuals and fake resale companies exploit this situation by:
Offering tickets at a price much higher than the face value
Issuing counterfeit tickets that feature forged barcodes and logos of real ticket companies
Selling duplicates of legitimate tickets and sing emls to several buyers.
Preting to offer online sales for your tickets with intentions to steal your credit card information.
But don't worry, there are several steps you can take to avoid falling prey to these schemes:
DO:
Purchase tickets directly from the venue box office
Buy tickets from authorized brokers and third-party sellers who have real contact information e.g., TICKETFLY and STUBWIRE for FireLake Arena.
Verify that they have a physical address, phone number, and website which doesn't resemble any fake addresses or PO Box numbers.
Carefully scrutinize the web address of the resale ticket seller to avoid landing on phony websites closely mirroring authentic company sites.
Online searches about negative reviews of sellers using keywords like fraud, scams, fake tickets along with their name, eml address and phone number can be highly revealing.
Examine the tickets before buying them verifying dates, times printed are correct.
Confirm that section and seat numbers on the ticket actually exist at the venue.
Plan to meet with a seller in a public place if you're buying from an individual.
Request proof that they purchased the tickets as individuals may require this.
Pay using a credit card for transactions involving third-party sellers, as it offers significant protections agnst fraudulent charges.
Report any complnts about ticket sellers via your state's consumer protection office.
DON'T:
Wire transfer money directly to purchase tickets
Trust sellers who demand payment through prepd cards
Pay without seeing the tickets first
Meet individual sellers alone or in secluded areas.
Automatically trust search engine results for ticket sellers. Pd advertisements, sellers that charge high fees, and scams might appear too.

You have several options to report such frauds:
Contact your state consumer protection office

File a local police report especially if you met the scammer in person or possess pictures of them for this purpose.
Use Better Business Bureau’s Scam Tracker to file complnts about fraudulent ticket companies.
Dispute charges with your credit card company if payment was made via credit card, as they may help.
